HatayThings to Do & Travel Guide
A land where flavor and tolerance come together
What Is This City Known For?
Hatay, known in ancient times as Antioch (Antiochia), is one of the most important centers of early Christianity—according to the New Testament, the term “Christian” was first used here. The Church of Habib-i Neccar/St. Peter is considered one of the oldest churches in the world. The region is known for its unique, rich culinary culture, as well as its multi-religious and multicultural historical heritage.
About
Hatay is one of Turkey’s most distinctive provinces, thanks to Antakya’s millennia-old multicultural and multireligious heritage, its museum—which houses one of the world’s richest collections of Roman mosaics—and its rich cuisine, for which it has been designated a “City of Gastronomy” by UNESCO.
