What Is This City Known For?
Antalya is one of Turkey’s best-known tourist destinations on the Mediterranean coast and is located in the ancient region of Pamphylia. The Hadrian Gate, dating from the Roman period, and the Düden Waterfall in the city center are among its main landmarks. The ancient cities in the surrounding area—Aspendos, with its Roman theater that is still used for events today; Termessos, perched on a mountainside; and the port city of Perge—make the region significant in terms of the ancient world’s heritage. The city is known as one of the main gateways to modern beach tourism in Turkey.
