What Is This City Known For?
Bursa was the first major capital of the Ottoman Empire (before Edirne and Istanbul). The Green Mosque and the Green Mausoleum, considered masterpieces of early Ottoman architecture, are the city’s landmarks. It is generally accepted that the İskender kebab, served with yogurt and tomato sauce, was invented here. The city was an important center for the silk trade along the historic Silk Road; the historic Koza Han is one of the surviving remnants of this tradition. Mount Uludağ is known as a ski resort both in ancient times and today.
